Our Team

Stephanie Banning

Co-Founder and Clinical Psychologist

Stephanie Banning is a clinical psychologist and co-founder of Think Parents, Bumps and Bubs. Steph is passionate about supporting individuals across the whole perinatal period, from conception through to postpartum, including fertility struggles. She has a particular interest in perinatal depression, anxiety and OCD, birth and postpartum trauma, as well as attachment and infant mental health. She finds so much joy in helping parents and babies find their groove and learn about each other, setting up the foundations for a life long relationship.

Steph knows from first hand experience that the perinatal period can be hard for so many reasons. She sees people who are struggling with a mental health diagnosis associated with the perinatal period, as well as those experiencing general difficulties with the challenges that arise from this massive life change.

Steph has completed training with the Centre for Perinatal Psychology, holisitc sleep coaching, is a circle of security facilitator, and a mum of two.

Dr. Sarah Hughes

Co-Founder and Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Sarah Hughes is a clinical psychologist, the co-founder of Think Parents, Bumps, and Bubs, and the founder of Think Clinical Psychologists.  She’s worked in private practice for over 15 years, and while she loves working with kids, teens, and adults across a whole range of issues, she has a special passion for supporting mums and families through pregnancy and the postnatal period.

In particular Sarah enjoys supporting mums experiencing difficult pregnancies, women who’ve experienced traumatic births or had challenging newborn experiences, new parents struggling to adjust to parenthood, and mums and dads experiencing postnatal anxiety or depression. She’s a strong advocate for evidence-based approaches and approaches that balance support for infant development, secure attachment, and parent mental health.

Sarah is a mum of two.  She’s had two hyperemesis pregnancies and her own postnatal challenges.  You can read more about her experience with postnatal PTSD in her Gidget Angel profile on the Gidget Foundation website, and hear her talk about her experience with hyperemesis on You, Me, and HG, a podcast produced by Hyperemesis Australia.

In addition to her clinical training (a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and PhD in childhood anxiety disorders from The University of Sydney), Sarah has also completed training in holistic sleep coaching (evidence-based, responsive sleep support for families).

Amelia El-Roubaei

Child and Family Health Nurse, Childbirth Educator, IBCLC

Amelia is a Registered Child and Family Health Nurse, Childbirth Educator, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).  She has experience working in a tertiary level neonatal intensive care unit, and in the community with families experiencing a range of challenges as they transition to parenthood.

Amelia has a warm and empathetic approach to her practice, always ensuring that every family she supports is encouraged to find their own goals and preferences in their parenting. She wholeheartedly believes that all families are unique, and should be supported in a holistic manner that incorporates all facets of care.

Amelia enjoys helping all families thrive in new parenthood, but has a particular interest working with feeding challenges involving tongue ties, prematurity, and educating parents on the importance of coregulation and attachment.

Amelia is also a mum of two young girls and understands the challenges of new motherhood and the vulnerabilities it brings. Amelia is passionate about ensuring that parents are able to feel supported, nurtured and respected, so that they can best care for their little ones.

Phoebe Carter

Midwife, IBCLC

Phoebe is a mum of two, a midwife, and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).  She’s originally from the UK where she trained as a midwife under the NHS, and moved to Sydney in 2019 where she completed her lactation consultant training.

Phoebe loves supporting families as they transition to parenthood, whether they’re becoming parents for the first time or transitioning anew with subsequent siblings. She relishes being able to use her skills as a midwife and IBCLC to support families, but also her skills and experiences as a fellow mum.

Phoebe had tricky transitions after the births of both her children, so is familiar with how hard of an adjustment parenthood can be. She’s passionate about providing family-centred care and supporting new parents with gentle and responsive strategies to help ease what can be a time of huge joy but also significant upheaval.

*The team working under the Think Parents, Bumps and Bubs banner share similar values in terms of the treatment quality and level of client care we aim to provide, but each practitioner is an individual contractor and not an employee of the practice. Most practices operate this way, but for transparency sake, we wanted to mention it.
